Night at the Railway Museum 2

Time is running out to save your spot for the Alberta Railway Museum’s exciting Night at the Railway Museum 2 photo event, the evening of Friday, September 8! Admission to this event is by advance ticket sales only and is closed to the general public — last year’s inaugural event was a sell-out and only a few spots now remain. This is a great opportunity for photographers, rail and history enthusiasts to step back in time and experience vintage vehicles, rail equipment and models…

Heritage long weekend

Coming up on the Heritage long weekend, the Steam Punks and Edmonton Shutterbug photographers will be visiting on Saturday August 5. We had a wonderful time hosting both groups last year, and the Victorian era clothing fit right in with the Museum’s collection. If you’re so inclined, put on your best steam punk attire and join the fun. Or wear your regular street clothes and observe as a Muggle. On Monday August 7, the Museum will be having a handover…

Rails and Tales – Day Three

Today was a glorious day for double-headed steam action. 1392 is performing brilliantly and gets better all the time; the crew are all very proud of her and how she’s doing. Not bad for a girl that was built ten years after man’s first powered flight by the Wright brothers in 1903. She was in service when the Empire entered the Great War in 1914 and had already been in service for 26 years when Canada declared war in 1939!…

Rails and Tales – Day Two

Not many pictures today; your intrepid reporter was firing the locomotive. It was a wonderful trip. We had a good stiff climb out of Stettler behind 41. After the first few miles I settled in and got comfortable and the trip to Big Valley was wonderful. At big valley two more antique tractors were arriving. They are amazing machines and the paintwork on them is stunning. Seeing them all running on the 3rd is going to be a great experience. At Big…
