I hope you are keeping safe in the time of COVID-19.
We have suspended all volunteer activities at the site. We have a rotation of volunteers (thank-you Barry, Lukas, and Terry) who stop in daily to ensure that all is well and that the cats are fed.
As you may have observed from the news, no one has answers on when life will return to “normal”. The Board of Directors will continue to monitor updates from Alberta Health Services. We are not optimistic that we will be opening for the May long weekend.
Meanwhile, some volunteer activities continue on off site on an individual basis. Hans has been working on displays. Bob has been working on our Alberta Transportation operating certificate. Monica and Roland have been active on the social media (follow us on Facebook, Instagram, & Twitter). Judy has stock coming in for the gift shop that was ordered pre-COVID-19. Darrel, Roland, and I have been exploring setting up education programs. Education programs was on the to-do list for summer staff, but it has moved up the priority list. Kevin continues to keep our finances in order, and doesn’t grimace too much when I tell him about the propane bill! I am in the process of updating information for the Alberta Museums Association Registered Museums Program.
If you have talents to share in the area of social media, display creations, or education programming, especially for the K-6 range, I would love to hear from you!
Finally, if you are in need of help relating to the COVID-19 situation, please reach out to me and I will see what we can do to help.
Stay safe & healthy!
