Normally the volunteers and summer staff a the Alberta Railway Museum would be preparing for our opening day for this upcoming May long weekend. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 situation, we will NOT open to the PUBLIC for the 2020 season.

The Board of Directors has discussed this at length, specifically the challenges of having our visitors socially distance themselves, the need for ongoing cleaning and sanitizing, and the practicalities of having visitors in limited numbers. As well, many of our volunteers are in the high-risk category. Opening to the public would expose our members to many more potential sources of the virus. The Board felt the risk is too high.

Over the summer we hope to work on some of our long delayed projects, such as road and grounds work, restoration projects, and the development of an education program.

Further updates will be issued over the course of the summer. If you have questions or feedback, please contact me at [email protected] or on my cell phone at 780 441 5917.

Sincerely,

Stephen Yakimets, President
